Tartt's Titties Christmas Cancer Chop 2024!

I never thought I’d be writing this, but here we are. As many of you know (and for those who don’t—surprise!), I recently received an unexpected-ish breast cancer diagnosis. It’s been raw, it’s been tough, and honestly? It’s been an awakening.

Surgery is scheduled for December 20th, and I’ve finally reached the point where I need to ask for help. Cancer has tried to boss me around, but let me tell you—it picked the wrong one. Vulnerability is hard, but here’s the truth: the financial side of this fight is real, and I can’t keep pretending I’ve got it all under control.

This isn’t just about beating cancer—it’s about living beyond it. I’m ready to push past fear and let courage take the lead, even when it feels shaky. I want to show up fully—not just for myself, but for the work, the people, and the future that fuel me.

Here’s what your support helps me with:

  • Rest and Recovery
  • After eight years of being a broke PhD student, healing from surgery feels like yet another curveball. Recovery expenses (and the ridiculous extras like compression gear) add up fast.
  • Everyday Life Stuff
  • Bills don’t pause just because cancer showed up. Keeping the lights on and life stable is a big part of maintaining peace of mind during this process.
  • Alternative Treatments
  • Specific to hormonal cancer, supplemental treatments and therapies are essential to my long-term health and healing.

This moment isn’t just a fight—it’s a turning point. Courage isn’t the absence of fear; it’s action in spite of it.
